In 1941, Aquaman and Green Arrow were the biggest new arrivals, as well as Doctor Mid-Nite and Plastic Man. Across titles and publishers, the Second World War became a topic, even before America's participation in it, which led to the rise of Nazis and Fifth Columnists as villains and saw the creation of Uncle Sam and the Blackhawk Squadron for Quality Comics and Minute-Man for Fawcett Comics. Though DC/National Allied did not create any new patriotic characters, it did rebrand adventurer Tex Thompson into Mister America.
