Fleeing towards the Arctic Circle, he is forced to abandon his aircraft, and parachutes through a swirling mist into the strange land of Skartaris. The Atom discovers that an Ivy University professor named Horace McByrd has invented a device to give Ray Palmer amnesia in order to sabotage his career.
