The real name and origins of the being calling itself the Abyss are not as yet known. The Abyss appears to be a living black hole, able to teleport itself and others over vast interstellar distances or to bring weapons and other items from one dimension or planet to another, as well as being able to change its size…from standard human-sized, to gigantic or microscopic, at will. The Abyss uses these powers to commit crimes galaxy wide, most often in the company of the alien criminal called THE SQUID.
The Abyss first came to the attention of the people of Earth when it arrived, along with the Squid, to commit spectacular robberies. For some reason, the location these villains chose to do this was the relatively small community of Fairfax, ME, which was at that time home to teen heroes Victoria Grant and Christopher King. These teens were in possession of the two H-Dials created by Robert Reed using supernatural means, and with those dials, they were able to transform themselves into various super-heroes with different powers accompanying each transformation. Upon learning of the Squid-Abyss crime wave, King and Grant used their dials to combat the villainous pair, ultimately defeating them. The Squid tried to flee using one of Abyss's portals to return to his homeworld, but the Abyss was disoriented at the time, and sent the Squid to someplace else, the precise details unknown even to Abyss himself. The Abyss then seemed to implode, and may have perished, though this is by no means certain.
