Synopsis for "The Cheshire Contract!"

In New York City, Nightwing rounds up a group of smugglers with the timely assistance of friend and fellow Titan Speedy. Later at Titans Tower, Speedy tells Dick the Central Bureau of Investigation needs his help to track down Cheshire, the mother of Speedy's child, who has been hired to kill some ambassadors and stop a treaty between the US and Russia. Dick wants to call in his fellow Titans, but the bowman states he can't, that it has to be just Nightwing. The pair fly to Washington D.C. and meet with a man who tells them the "first hit" is in London. In England, Cheshire takes aim at her target, but sees Speedy and Nightwing before she can pull the trigger. To herself, the killer says the bowman has gotten in her way long enough and even though he may be the father of her daughter, that won't save him now.

Synopsis for "The Tin Roof Club, Part 3"

Catwoman pulls Holly out of her house just as it explodes, but she is too late as her friend dies from her injuries. Later, as Selina is drowning her sorrows back at "The Tin Roof Club" (even though the police have it cordoned off), cop George Flannery arrives and tells her to "dry up" and get out while she can. Catwoman goes to the "Gotham Plaza" and confronts Holly's ex-husband, Arthur. Surprised he knows who she really is (after all, Holly "could never keep her mouth shut"), Selina tells Arthur she knows there was no gas leak at the house (after all, she was there) and that she will keep her mouth shut in exchange for the brooch she had "lent" to Holly a few days earlier. Arthur refuses and calls security just before Selina begins to choke him with her whip. Struggling to breath, Arthur points to the sock drawer and Selina removes the box, turning her back on her enemy. As security knocks on the door, Arthur grabs Selina and hurls her out the high rise window.

Notes

  • In The Cheshire Contract!, Nightwing tells Speedy how the separation with Batman really came about as two versions (one in which Dick quit and the other in which Batman fired him) seem to be floating around. This contradiction in versions is brought about thanks to the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths, which erased Earth-One continuity and created a new continuity.
  • Crisis on Infinite Earths: The Compendium states that the "Tin Roof Club" Catwoman arc (which appears in Action Comics Weekly #611-614) took place on Earth-85, not in the Earth of mainstream DC continuity. In particular, the death of Holly Robinson shown in this issue did not take place in mainstream DC continuity, as Holly is shown to be alive in Catwoman Vol 3 1.
