Synopsis for "King Takes Pawn"

Lois assembles the combined might of the Superman Family in an attempt to save Superman from himself. Superman, fearing the might of a threat in the county of Pokolistan, has gone off on his own to save the world.

Superman, defending Pokolistan, seeks to find the source of the destruction so obviously present. Ignition, who is only supposed to exist in a strange dream universe created by the Joker, appears to command a large army, along with Kancer. Joined by Supergirl, Superboy, and "Steel" (actually Kelex in Steel's armor), the fight intensifies, until it comes to the attention to the man and woman who are directing Ignition's actions.

Elsewhere, Sam Lane and Lex Luthor discuss the state of the U.S. military. They regard a B13-created fighter shaped like a black bird with a red beak. Luthor notes the plane is there should the Pokolistan situation get beyond control.

The fighting in Pokolistan is soon join by Faora, a cybernetic woman, and attacks and subdues Kelex. Superboy defends him, and in the process is cut in the stomach by Kancer. Superman is suddenly punched in the jaw by a masked man dress in red. When the man comes in for another go for Superman, Kelex teleports everyone away from the scene to a medical area, where Kelex reveals that another punch and Superman could be dead; in which he implies that it will be "like" Doomsday all over again.

Later, President Luthor has officially shut Superman down from going back to Pokolistan because it may cause an international incident. Lois tried to help Clark/Superman feel better about the incident, but he tells her that just looking into the red man's eyes made him afraid.
