Synopsis for "Old Ghosts"

It's Halloween, and Lois and her photographer Willis are attempting to get the story on a number of strange occurrences involving ghost attacks. Meanwhile, Superman encounters a giant incarnation of The Spectre wandering Metropolis in search of the target of his vengeance. That target is revealed to be Colin Thornton of Newstime, who is actually Satanus in disguise. Satanus plans to gather souls in order to defend himself against The Spectre, and Superman offers his own in order to save the citizens of the city. Lois and Willis get into a car accident due to the supernatural events, whereupon Lois' father Sam Lane (thought to have died during the Our Worlds at War event) appears to her among the ghosts, and they discuss their relationship. Unfortunately, he has to leave before Lois achieves closure. Satanus finds himself unable to take Superman's soul, due to his selflessness - which frees the villain's thralls. However, The Spectre approaches. Superman promises to speak on Satanus' behalf but is immobilized as the Spectre takes his vengeance. With that done, Superman is free to save Lois. Elsewhere, Sam Lane appears to be alive, and upon seeing Lois saved, he walks away.
