Adam Blake was Comet, a hyper-evolved human.
History
At the time of his birth, a comet passed over his house. The comet's radiation caused his body to evolve, and be, as scientist Emery Zackro called it, "born 1000 years ahead of his time".
Misunderstood, he was shunned by his father and the rest of the town, and roamed rural Kansas for several years, until it was time for him to go to space, to the source of his powers.[1]
