Personal History

Adrienne Roy was born and raised in Verona, New Jersey and graduated Magna Cum Laude from William Patterson University as a Fine Artist. In her early 20's she discovered fan conventions--just surfacing as a mainstream phenomenon in New York City (a mere 20 miles from her home town in New Jersey). She attended the first New York Star Trek conventions, Warren's Famous Monsters of Filmland Conventions, and many others. It was at the second of the FTM conventions that she met Anthony Tollin, then-current staffer with DC Comics.

After her marriage in 1976, she moved to New York City, where she heard about DC's need for a color artist. She applied for the position and was hired by DC Comics, enjoying a 19 year career. In 1986, she and Anthony moved to a house in Fairfield, New Jersey and became parents to a baby girl, Katrina Tollin.

After the era of hand coloring ended and digital coloring took over, the Tollin family moved to Boerne, Texas where Adrienne obtained her divorce. Adrienne returned to New Jersey to care for her aging father and was certified as a Hypnosis Consultant through The National Guild of Hypnotists. Her hypnosis website is called The Guided Mind.

After a brief fight with cancer, she died at her home in Austin, Texas on December 14, 2010, surrounded by family and friends.
