Synopsis for "The Rogue Legionnaire!"
Legionnaires Brainiac 5, Chameleon Boy, Colossal Boy, Satum Girl, Shrinking Violet, and Superboy act as judges at the Metropolis Students' Science Fair, and award first prize to a young inventor for his exhibit, a collapsible Time Cube. As the prize is given, the heroes streak back to the Clubhouse to greet Universo, a villain in the process of breaking in. Universo uses his power of super-hypnosis to overcome all but Brainiac 5, who resists, but fails to stop the criminal from escaping in one of their Time Bubbles after destroying the other. The others soon recover, except Superboy. who remains hypnotized due to Kryptonite dust in Universo's hypnotic eye device, but the Legionnaires now have no way of tracking their foe. When a Professor Huxton of the Chrono-Research Lab, secretly Universo's thrall, calls to ask about unscheduled time travel activity, and mentions five areas of disturbance, Brianiac 5 realizes Universo is responsible and rushes back to the Science Fair with the others. With its inventor's cooperation, they use his Time Cube to send each Legionnaire to one of the time-disturbance eras, in hopes of capturing the villain. Chameleon Boy arrives in Peru in 1300; Shrinking Violet appears in Gizah, Egypt, in 1243 B.C.; Colossal Boy finds himself in England in 693; Saturn Girl is transported to Paris, France, in 1812; and Brainiac 5 goes to Shang-Tu, China, in 1280. In each era the Legionnaires are seemingly destroyed by lackeys whom Universo had previously hypnotized.
Back in 30th century Metropolis, Universo easily makes his way through the United Planets Council Building to the Inner Council itself. When he attempts to hypnotize the Council members, they reveal themselves to be the Legionnaires, alive and well. The young inventor had modified his Time Cube to bring the heroes back safely whenever his time monitor showed one in peril. As Universe is taken into custody, the Legionnaires' new friend reveals that the villain is actually his father.
