Synopsis for Supergirl: "Demon Spawn"

A cloaked, green-clad woman named Nightflame wielding a sword and displaying fearsome sorcery powers appears in San Francisco, raises havoc, and demands that Supergirl be brought to her.

Meanwhile, in the offices of KSF-TV news, Linda and Nasty are bickering as usual. Linda storms off to cool down in her office but she is so angry she punches the wall and makes the whole building shake. Linda hurries to cover the cracked wall.

Geoff and Nasty come to check in on her. Geoff demands to know what happened, but the building suddenly shaking again saves Linda from having to come up with a lie. Linda puts her head out of the window to see Nightflame torching and nearly bringing down the building. Both Geoff and Nasty are unconscious so Linda changes into Supergirl, gets them out of the building, puts out the fire and heads out to confront Nightflame.

However, Nightflame renders her unconscious, separates her spirit from her body, and flies off. When Supergirl awakens, she finds herself into a bizarre, decaying, hellish landscape. She is powerless and beset by demons and Nightflame, who tells her that she is now on a world that exists only in an atom of her brain. The "Innerverse" is sustained by evil, and her choice to do good is eating it away. Nightflame intends to save her world by stealing her powers and taking over her body.

Supergirl is brought to the "Cave of Ceremonies" and placed in a mystic pentagram drawn by Nightflame's sword. Then the demons start to drain her powers. Supergirl struggles to retain her powers and keep her soul whole, but the pain is unbearable. She reaches out for anything that will take her mind off the pain. Mental contact with Geoff Anderson helps Supergirl throw off Nightflame's influence.

Recovered, Supergirl squares off with Nightflame. Since she has failed to gain Supergirl's powers, Nightflame's world is at an end. She attacks Supergirl to kill her, revealing she's the embodiment of Kara's death wish. Their battle ravages whatever is left of the Innerverse until Supergirl manages to heave her into the fire pentagram. Nightflame vanishes out of existence, and the Innerverse is transformed into a beautiful place. Supergirl revives and kisses Geoff gratefully.
