Synopsis for Sandman: "No Curtains For Cupid!"

With growing irritation, Wes Dodds and Sandy Hawkins follow newspaper accounts of the career of the "Eraser Kid," who has rubbed out so many witnesses that it might be impossible to prosecute him.

Meanwhile reformed racketeer Happy Harry Long's fiancee Tessie has been having bad dreams about the Sandman. Happy Harry tells her that he'll get the Sandman himself to reassure her that Long is out of trouble now. To bring this about, Long throws a reception, and invites the Sandman and Sandy to it via a classified advertisement. They show up, and Sandman does indeed reassure Tessie that he has no current evidence on Happy Harry, and believes he has gone straight. But then right there in the room, the Sandman spots the Eraser Kid! Just as that fight is getting started, Happy Harry smooths it over, it's all a misunderstanding, the Kid didn't know who was coming, etc etc. Peace is restored, and the party ends on an up note as Harry and Tessie announce their engagement.

The following day, talking things over with his gang punk pals, the Eraser Kid decides to pay back Happy Harry. They visit Tessie and steal from her a pearl necklace that Harry gave her at the party, telling her it's stolen contraband. She doesn't know what to believe. Sandman pays her a visit and tells her Happy's on the up and up, then Sandman goes to have a discussion with the Eraser Kid. And Happy Harry has already had that idea, and is at Eraser's place now, talking his way into a fight, against bad odds. But the Eraser Kid has a proposition: Long can have his necklase back IF he helps out with a robbery that night, at the Van Dough estate. Long plays along with this, hoping to figure a way out of it later, but by they time they get onto the estate grounds, he hasn't had any new ideas. Then the Sandman and Sandy step out of the shadows and confront the gang.

In the ensuing fistfight, Happy Harry tries to run away, but only ends up stumbling into the Sandman, creating a distraction. First Sandman then Sandy are knocked unconscious, with the Eraser Kid believing that Happy Harry's stumble was actually an excellent fight move. His next big idea is to arrange for the estate's fierce guard dogs to take care of his costumed enemies for him. By this time, guilt gets the better of Happy Harry, and he jumps in between the gunmen and the heroes, so for a moment they can't shoot. Then the fistfight resumes, and this time the three good guys lay out the four bad guys, then run away quickly, because the guard dogs are still coming after them really fast. They escape.

Afterward Happy Harry is resigned to being rearrested, but Sandman explains to him a version of events which makes both the Police and Tessie happy. They also recover Tessie's necklace, and a few weeks later, the Sandman and Sandy, in costume, are guests at Tessie and Harry's wedding.
