Personal History

Kwitney grew up in New York City, raised by her mother Ziva Kwitney. Her father is science fiction author Robert Sheckley. She currently lives with her husband and two children near Manhattan.


Professional History

Alisa Kwitney is an American author and writer. She has a BA in English from Wesleyan University, where she received the Horgan Writing Prize for Fiction, and an MFA in Fiction from Columbia University, where she received a scholarship of merit.

In 1991, after completing her MFA, Kwitney applied for entry level editorial positions at both Silhouette and DC Comics. She got a job working for Karen Berger on titles such as Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, and went on to become a full editor. She left her staff position after seven years, following the birth of her second child.

Kwitney's writing credits for DC and Vertigo include The Dreaming (1997), Destiny: A Chronicle of Deaths Foretold (1997), Batman: No Man's Land Secret Files (1999), Token (2008) and Convergence: Batgirl (2015)
