Synopsis for Justice Society of America: "$1,000,000 for War Orphans"

At the behest of the team's new chairman, Green Lantern, the Justice Society pledge themselves to raise a million dollars for children orphaned by World War II. Johnny Thunder himself pledges to raise $300,000, but has no idea how he will do it. Green Lantern earns a reward by rescuing a business tycoon from kidnappers. The Spectre earns a small sum in a boxing match, and uses his power of the occult to increase his money by investing and gambling. The Atom is paid to break up a sports gambling operation at Calvin College, while Doctor Fate enters a writing contest on committing crime, and has to stop his own plan for a bank robbery. Hawkman is hired to break up a gang harassing a newspaper, and Sandman collects police rewards from rounding up wanted criminals. Hourman is called away on business to Mexico, but winds up collecting a reward for discovering hidden Aztec treasure. Johnny Thunder tries and fails to earn money by becoming a street vendor, but in his typically half-accidental manner, Johnny gets some help from the Flash, from Batman, and from Superman.
