Colonel Ambrose Porterhouse was a larger than life character who told lots of stories to kids.
History
According to Colonel Ambrose Porterhouse, and no one else, Colonel Porterhouse had an amazing variety of adventures, in different phases of his younger years. He regales his audience, two sibling grade-schoolers, with the amazing tales of these exploits, and they seem to believe every bit of it. These kids are avid readers of Whiz Comics, and all of the Colonel's stories seem to be loosely based on the stories the kids are reading that month.

Notes
- This version of Colonel Porterhouse, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
- The five Colonel Porterhouse stories are only partly "in universe". Each one consists of a framing story (set outside the Fourth Wall), and Porterhouse's own narrative (set within it). The main running gag was that each of the Colonel Porterhouse stories was a parody of one of the more serious stories in the same issue.
