In the late 1930s, Andre Blanc-Dumont worked as a soldier of fortune and French National. He became a driving force in the formation of the French Resistance when the Nazis took control of Paris. As a member of the resistance, Andre flew raids against Nazi-held positions in Tunisia. In the early days of World War II, Andre met Janos Prohaska who invited him to become a member of his Blackhawk Squadron. The Blackhawks fought against the Nazis throughout the duration of the war. One of Andre's most celebrated adventures took place in 1943 when the Blackhawks stopped British Nazi sympathizer Death Mayhew from releasing an atomic bomb over the United States. After the war, Andre continued to work with Prohaska in his private air charter service, Blackhawk Airways. By 1948, Blackhawk Airways evolved into Blackhawk Express.
