Synopsis for "Secret Origins"

In order to escape impending death, Animal Man absorbs the powers of a bacterium to duplicate himself several times, overwhelming his captors. He and Vixen escape, while Hamed Ali and Tabu are occupied. They stop to collect the Tantu Totem from Tabu's room, where they find and destroy a wall full of masks housing animal spirits, from which Tabu derives her powers.
Outside, they discover a strange light emanating from Hamed Ali's excavation site. Despite strange effects that it seems to be causing, Animal Man heads straight into it, and Vixen is forced to follow.
Inside, Animal Man meets the yellow aliens who gave him his power, but he is followed by Hamed Ali and Tabu. Vixen and Tabu fight, with Vixen being stabbed multiple times, with no effect.
Meanwhile, the aliens explain that they are in a ship called the Traveller, and that over the years, they have set events into place such that animal powers were given to humans across the ages. The aliens further reveal that Buddy Baker did not survive the initial explosion of that gave him his powers, but that they had reconstituted his spirit using morphogenetic grafts - a process which they have recently repeated. They explain that elements of the continuum have been put out of place by the recent Crisis, and that using Buddy's memories, they can fix it.
Buddy succeeds in fixing the continuum, and an angry Hamed Ali threatens them with a gun, shooting one of the aliens in the head. The alien is unaffected, explaining that they are agents of the Creator. The alien then erases Hamed Ali from comic-book continuity. The aliens then leave.
Outside, Vixen and Animal Man are confused by the fact that all of the soldiers above ground are dead.
