Synopsis for "Spooks"
In the Bakers' front yard, Maxine Baker comes in contact with a mysterious figure, claiming that he misses her, and needs to warn her. Ellen, her mother, sees the figure, and runs out thinking her daughter is in danger, but the man is gone. Maxine claims that the man is her father. Not long after, Ellen receives a call from her husband Buddy, who is at the airport, having just returned from Africa.
Elsewhere, Dr. James Highwater dreams about the nature of reality. When he wakes, he has no idea where he is. He realizes that he is in San Francisco, having come to the east coast to meet Animal Man.
Meanwhile, a man calling himself Mr. Lennox arrives at the home of a Mrs. Linfield under the pretense of being a religious emissary. However, he soon shoots Mrs. Linfield and her daughter at point-blank range before closing their front door and leaving.
Back at the Baker household, Cliff Baker and his friends play with a Ouija board, which spells out his name and the numbers 9 and 27. At the same time, Ellen senses that someone is standing behind her, but when she turns around, there's nobody there. She goes to the kitchen and gets out a knife, passing by a calendar opened to September. She attempts to signal to Maxine to hide with her, but Buddy comes up behind her, frightening her.
Buddy searches the house and finds nothing. Even so, the figure appears outside the window. Buddy follows the figure out into the rain, and while he can't identify the man, he recognizes him as having appeared to him ten years before. When he goes back inside, the figure writes the numbers 9 and 27 on the door.
