Synopsis for "The Battle of the Sexes!"

Anthro has slain a great mammoth, and he takes his brother Lart to help him deal with the carcass. They are attacked by the beautiful young girl Embra, who had taken this beast Donta in as her pet and grown to care for it. After Anthro chases her down and talks to her, she is still upset but he apologizes. He calms her down and she takes comfort in his arms, he realizes how much he likes her and intends to take her back to his cave.

Suddenly, Lart calls for help while watching the beast. Kano, the great wolf, has arrived and is planning on slaughtering the young boy before taking his prize. He lunges, and Lart plants a spear into the monster's face, killing it. In its death throes, Kano mangles Lart's leg into a bloody mess. Anthro rushes his brother back home to be taken care of, and his mother nurses him to health. They save him from dying, but he will be crippled for the rest of his life. Although he can never run or hunt again, Lart will be remembered as a great hunter in his youth for slaying the beast.

His father Ne-ahn tells him it is about time that he found himself a woman. Anthro goes to find Embra, and learns that she is the daughter of the Horse Tribe chieftain, from his mother's tribe. There is a policy that any suitors must prove themselves worthy, and he is put through a series of tests in bravery and in skill before proving himself. To his surprise, they also have a law that the eldest daughter must marry first and Chief Tugg intends to marry him to his homelier daughter Ita. Not wishing to be so betrothed, Anthro runs for his life, with men chasing him on horseback for the dishonor.
