Synopsis for "The Prophecy"
Anthro and his family are migrating south and they arrive at the village of Katara. Lart's appearance resembles an ancient prophecy, and this civilization makes him their King. Their local customs make women the dominant gender, and men have been reduced to slavery for the most part throughout. Their goddess is a local volcano who demands regular sacrifices. The previous ruler, Queen Flamma, attempts to seduce Anthro as a method of getting to his younger brother and retaining control. Despite their efforts, Lart is determined to be a fair and just ruler, and repeals several bad laws. Meanwhile, Ne-ahn struggles against the palace staff who must force him to take a bath. Anthro spurns the Queen's advances and encourages Lart to do the right thing... this infuriates Flamma, and she decides to deal with him violently. Knowing that Lart is unable to read, she tricks him into signing Anthro's death warrant. Fleeing from soldiers, the cave boy meets members of a locally formed resistance, organized by a man named Clavo, who plan to overthrow the corrupt and oppressive society. Their battle begins, and as they are fighting there is a small earthquake created by the volcano. Flamma attempts to sacrifice Lart to appease her goddess, but Anthro rescues him at the last second as the woman herself slips and falls to her death. The city is completely destroyed by the volcano, and Clavo's forces have won their victory. As the townspeople decide to rebuild anew, Anthro's family continues making their way south. They are given rafts for their adventure, and challenge the great unknown river with generous supplies given to them in gratitude.
