Aresia src

Aresia was a deeply misandric villain of the Justice League.

Background

Aresia was a refugee from a war torn country. Traveling by boat she was among those who tired to escape with her mother, however pirates attacked the ship, causing its destruction. Because she was knocked unconscious, Aresia was unaware the ship captain survived and used every ounce of his strength to push her to the nearest island. That island was none other than Themyscira, home of the Amazonians. Upon his arrival, he was greeted briefly by Queen Hippolyta before passing away due to the stress on his heart. Honored, the captain was buried by Hippolyta on the island, but his existence was kept secret.

Upon waking, Aresia was under the impression than she was the only survivor of the ship. It was then she was raised as an Amazon, and their ways. But due to traditions, Aresia was to be locked up in her room for a year, and truly decide if she wants to be an Amazon. It was here, Aresia used this as a plan to kill all the men in the world, believing them to be responsible.

Fury

Using her solitude, Aresia created a virus designed to only kill men. She escaped confinement and assembled a new Injustice Gang to assemble her weapon. The gas was successful, as shown on her first victim, Superman, to leave men in a weakened state, and was an airborne contaminant. Using the only female members of the Injustice Gang: Star Sapphire and Tsukuri, Aresia kidnapped Hippolyta and had plans to dump the virus into a jetstream, pushing it all over the world.

Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman confronted Aresia, having hijacked a plane. It's here, Hippolyta finally reveals the captain's role in her survival, but admits she didn't see it important. However this alone isn't enough to stop Aresia, and she fights Wonder Woman, having armed the explosive missile loaded with the virus. After Hawkgirl sabotages the bay doors, the others opt to escape, knowing the resulting explosion would kill them. Diana tries in vain to save Aresia, but she pushes Diana out believing she can control the vessel. Unfortunately, the missile goes off, apparently killing Aresia in the resulting explosion.

The Weapons of Man

Following her apparent death, the Justice League was arresting a gang of rogue race car drivers when a member of the gang suddenly escaped into the city and was pursued by the Flash, who realizes that the bandit is Aresia, who had managed to survive the explosion. Using an electronic device called the Sonic Equalizer, Aresia's gang (consisting entirely of women) activate it to mind control the Justice, and Aresia commands them to steal weaponry from different countries. Only Flash, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl will stop the rogue Amazon, and while Flash organizes a plan to break into the Aresia base, Wonder Woman and Harkgirl face off against the rest of the League, but everything ends up going wrong and Flash is controlled. by Aresia, and Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl are unable to stop the four Leaguers from continuing to steal weaponry. However, Flash is not truly brainwashed by Aresia because he managed to counter its effects by plugging his ears with cotton from his costume bag.

The three remaining Leaguers gather at Aresia's base and confront her and the other heroes controlled by her, culminating in an apparent defeat for Flash, Wonder Woman, and Hawkgirl. As Aresia gloatingly tells her slaves to get off her while she finishes the battle, Wonder Woman and Hawkgirl try to reason with the rebellious Amazon one last time, trying to convince her that not all men are evil. But it all turned out to be a distraction for Aresia, as Wonder Woman had seized the opportunity to give Hawkgirl her mace back.

Aresia realizes it too late, and when she prepares to command her slaves to kill the three Leaguers, Hawkgirl flings the mace into the rogue Amazon, knocking the Sonic Equalizer out of her hand. Wonder Woman grabs the device and destroying it, putting an end to her plans and freeing the four brainwashed Leaguers. Eventually, Aresia was arrested and recided in an all-women prison, the only place with no men to have contact with.
