Artemis is a name used by several characters in the DC Universe.
The primary Artemis is an Amazon of Bana-Mighdall, a fearsome warrior who acts as an ally and sometimes antagonist to Wonder Woman. In Earth-One, Artemis was the first Wonder Woman, three thousand years ago. Artemis was also the name of the Greek Goddess of Hunt.
Artemis Crock, also known as Tigress, is the daughter of Paula Brooks and Sportsmaster, and a crossbow-wielding member of the Injustice Society. In the New 52, a character named Artemis, who bears a resemblance to the Young Justice version, appeared in the rebooted Teen Titans title, as a hostage of the group N.O.W.H.E.R.E..
In the New Gods, Artemiz is the name of one member of the Female Furies from Apokolips. In the Wildstorm Universe, Artemis was a deadly warrior of the Coda Sisterhood. Mary Tuner, a former member of the Court of Owls also known under the names Talon and Strix, briefly became Artemis during the events of Gothtopia.
Artemis Crock was created by Roy Thomas, Dann Thomas and Todd McFarlane, first appearing in Infinity Inc. #34 (1987). Artemis of Bana-Mighdall was created by William Messner-Loebs and Mike Deodato, Jr., first appearing in Wonder Woman (Volume 2) #90 (1994).
