Arthur Curry is the King of Atlantis as well as the member of the Justice League known as Aquaman. He rules Atlantis jointly with his wife, Queen Mera (who Arthur readily says she is scarier than him. Arthur and Mera have a baby child, Arthur Curry Jr.. Likewise, Arthur trains two young heroes: Aqualad and Aquagirl.

One of the machinations of the Legion of Doom got Aquaman and other heroes shrunk. When the Leaguers were freed by several friends, Aquaman took part in the ensuing battle, leading Gorilla Grodd to the Hall of Justice's swimming pool where his giant pet octopus Topo was awaiting.

Some while later, Black Manta and Ocean Master joined forces to destroy Aquaman. Black Manta staged robberies on cruise ships to lure him away from Atlantis and then kidnapped his son to keep him away. Then Orion Master invaded Atlantis. Unfortunately for them, the Atlantis forces succesfully held Orion Master's forces back as Aquaman and Mera retrieved their baby and swam back to Atlantis. Aquaman summoned an army of sea-dwelling beasts which surrounded Orion Master's hired crooks, who proceeded to surrender.
