The Golden Pharaoh was a hero empowered by the New Gods.
History
British archaeologist Ashley Halberstam was at a dig in Giza when he was engulfed by a bolt of energy emanating from a laboratory on New Genesis. The energy transformed Halberstam granting him the "Power of the Pyramids", as channeled through his magical staff. Halberstam later fought alongside Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman against Darkseid of Apokolips.
