- In this place of black and grey and dark... the Green shall be my light, my hope, my strength. All that is good is all I defend. I shall not falter.

Green Lantern Corps who believed himself to be stationed at the gates of Hell. He was recruited by Boodikka, who believed he would be a fine warrior and a credit to the corps. In reality, he had been called up to the Corps too young, and unready to fight on his own, an ambush from space mongrels left him comatose and feverish. He merely hallucinates himself to be fighting Demons, while in actuality he's hospitalized on Oa. Apparently, when the Green Lanterns were dismantled by a rogue Hal Jordan during Emerald Twilight and Oa was destroyed in a battle between Jordan and Kyle Rayner, Barin survived and recovered. He was a member of the newly reestablished Lantern Corps during Infinite Crisis, and rallied with the others to stop Superboy-Prime.
During the Sinestro Corps War, Barin was fatally shot through the head immediately after Cundiff Cood by Bedovian, sniper of the Sinestro Corps. His body was laid to rest in the Crypts of the Green Lantern Corps on Oa, along with all of the other fallen Lanterns. During Blackest Night, he appears resurrected as one of the members of the new Black Lantern Corps.
