Synopsis for "The Great Train Robbery"

At his fiancée's urging, Shame reluctantly contacts the police for a prisoner swap: Batgirl in exchange for Frontier Fanny. Though Commissioner Gordon rejects the idea, Batman and Robin agree to pursue it, little aware that Shame and his gang - having just raided a gun shop - mean to ambush them.

The exchange sees a tense standoff between Batgirl's captors and the Dynamic Duo, which Batman breaks by deploying a gas that renders the stolen guns too heavy to lift. A free-for-all ensues, during which both Frontier Fanny and Batgirl escape to their proper sides; with Batgirl's help, Batman and Robin make short work of Shame's gang, but Shame regains a pistol quickly enough to turn the tables and open up an escape.

Empty-handed, but not dissuaded, the crimefighters return to police headquarters; there, Batgirl recalls that during her captivity, Shame had boasted of a "Great Train Robbery". After reviewing several candidates, Batman correctly deduces that Shame means to rob the Federal Treasury train that disposes of outdated banknotes. Unfortunately, the crimefighters mobilize too late to stop the robbery, and Shame escapes with millions.

In a last, desperate gamble, Batman openly challenges Shame to a one-on-one showdown, which the egotistical bushwhacker accepts while secretly instructing his gang to snipe Batman from afar. Fortunately, Batgirl and Robin foresee this and foil the snipers, allowing Batman to beat Shame to a whimpering pulp and apprehend the entire gang. Once again, order is restored to Gotham - until King Tut launches an escape of his own.
