Synopsis for "The Tangled Web"

Batman infiltrates the League of Shadows, suspecting Ra's al Ghul to be planning something in the Middle East. In truth, Ra's intends to set off a chain of bombs planted beneath Antarctica via a satellite signal, and use the resulting flood to wipe out ninety percent of the Earth's population. As extra security, the League has contracted a legion of Bedouin warriors to guard the satellite's console.

Eventually, the League pinpoints a stray communications signal and entraps the infiltrator, only to discover that Robin has taken Batman's place as a phony League member. Batman, who has actually disguised himself as one of the Bedouins, takes Ra's hostage and forces the rest of the League to surrender their guns, leaving them easy prey for Robin. In the confusion, one of the League's aides tries to detonate the bombs, but accidentally triggers the satellite's self-destruct mechanism instead.

His latest plan scuppered, Ra's manages to free himself from Batman and flees in his private jet. Batman gives chase atop a Bedouin steed, but narrowly fails to grab onto the jet. The two foes then retire to their respective bases, reflecting on their latest stalemate.
