Synopsis for "Toxic Shock"

During a speaking tour in Gotham, South American environmentalist Diego Rivera is poisoned by assassins. Batman secures a sample of the poison, but realizes the poison is made from an extremely rare plant, and developing an antidote is beyond his expertise. Facing pressure from politician Gabriel Molinos, Batman and Commissioner Gordon enlist help from Poison Ivy to create an antidote.

Promised a state-of-the-art toxicological lab and the chance to save Rivera (a personal hero of hers), Ivy agrees to help, and successfully cures Rivera after weeks of research. Seconds afterward, however, a troop of masked gunmen invade the lab for another attempt on Rivera's life. Batman eventually defeats the gunmen and reveals their leader to be none other than Gabriel Molinos, who had secretly deemed Rivera a danger to South America's business interests.

Though Rivera is now safe, and his would-be murderers brought to justice, Batman realizes that Poison Ivy had escaped in the confusion and taken all samples of the antidote with her. A frustrated Batman resigns himself to recreating the antidote from a sample of Rivera's blood, while Rivera speculates where his savior might have fled to.
