Batman Beyond is a concept involving the Batman mythos and the Batman Family in a high-tech cyberpunk setting many years into the future. The main character is Terry McGinnis, a young man who is recruited by an elderly Bruce Wayne to fight crime in an advanced suit. Originally the television program was set in the future of the DCAU with references to Batman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited. There have also been several comics featuring these stories. Countdown to Final Crisis introduces Earth-12 in the Multiverse, a universe entirely populated by Beyond versions of characters. Terry McGinnis has also been introduced into the regular DC Universe. Batman Beyond was created by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, Bruce Timm and Glen Murakami, first appearing in the episode Rebirth of the animated series. (1999) Grant Morrison adapted the mythos into mainstream continuity in Batman #700. (2010)
