Synopsis for "Spiritual Currency"
Leslie Thompkins woke up after having a nightmare of a monster coming to her medical center in Park Row. She went out of her van and went to see Mikey, the former False Facer, who was looking over an unconscious Mr. Zsasz. Leslie told Mikey to be careful when near Zsasz and then she went to check on another patient who was badly injured. Leslie walked out of the medical center and called for the man who was hiding in the shadows of the street. Out came Killer Croc and asked for his friend's state. Croc's friend was Leslie's second patient and she told him that he was pretty bad. Croc was furious at Zsasz for attacking his friend and leaving him in that damaged way. Croc was about to break into the medical center and attack Zsasz but Leslie taleked to him and convinced him of staying outside until his friend has recovered. Suddenly a bullet struck at Croc's feet and he ran away in fear. Bill Pettit arrived with his group of renegades police officers and with Huntress. They attacked Croc believing that the monster would attack Leslie. Pettit took his injured men to Leslie's center and then started to chase Killer Croc down.
When Leslie returned to see how Mikey was doing, she found that Zsasz was attacking him even in his unconscious state. Zsasz cut Mikey in the arm's artery and Leslie rushed to stop the bleeding. Huntress was opposed to have Zsasz inside the medical center and she and Leslie argued about it for a while. Huntress gave up and let Leslie have her way. At that moment, Batman and Batgirl arrived at Leslie's place to deliver some medical supplies for her. Batman was horrified when he discovered that Leslie was taking care of Zsasz and that she would use the medical supplies to save Zsasz's life. After that, a gunshot was heard outside the medical center and Batman went to see what was it. Outside was Pettit struggling with Huntress for his firearm. She wanted to take it off before Batman could see it but her efforts were futile as Batman arrived and saw the weapon. From a collapsed buiding, Croc announced that he was going to strike back. Batman returned to the medical center and tried to talk sense to Leslie about Zsasz, but instead she was mean to Bruce and he had no other option but to leave the place. He left the place under Batgirl's watch and he left while Huntress and Pettit were arguing.
Leslie used the medical supplies on Zsasz and he recovered from his unconsciousness. Zsasz was disoriented and attacked Mikey at once. Batgirl and Huntress listened the noise and went to check on Leslie and Killer Croc seized the chance to attack Pettit. Batgirl and Huntress witnessed an act of bravery never seen before: Leslie was confronting Zsasz and challenging him to attack her. Zsasz was confused and stopped for a while when suddenly Huntress attacked Batgirl and both started to fight. Zsasz was about to attack Leslie when he was plucked away by Killer Croc who defeated Pettit and was now seeking revenge against Zsasz for his friend. Both of them fought for a while and after a few minutes Batman appeared and stopped Zsasz by placing him inside a man-size pipe. Croc ran away and Batman took Zsasz from Leslie's medical center. Beforle leaving, Leslie hugged Batman and told him that she was glad for all he does for the city. Leslie asked Batman about Zsasz's future and he told her that Nightwing would take Blackgate back and Zsasz would be placed there.
Later, Leslie recalls her nightmare, in which the monster turns out to be Batman and instead of hurting Leslie, he falls to his knees asking for Leslie's forgiveness. In the dream, she told him that she would always be there for him as he would always be there for Gotham.
Somewhere near Blackgate Penitentiary, Batman is aware of Leslie's care for him and silently, he thanked her.
