Synopsis for "The Prison"

Talia al Ghul killed Batman, and remembered how it came to happen. She and her father, Ra's, had killed the last of several men who had tried to escape him. Talia had reflected on how all he'd wanted was to be free, and Ra's spied her shedding a tear. She had thought of how he was a demon, but also her father, and that, though she, too, longed to be free, he had her loyalty. But Ra's had decided to test that loyalty by commanding her to kill the only rival for her devotion: Bruce Wayne, Batman. So she had flown to Gotham and forged a letter from her father to Batman, asking him to save his kidnapped daughter. Though he must have known it was a trap, he came anyway, while Talia's dreams had been racked with the pain of what she was going to do.Batman went to the old asylum and was trapped in the delousing chamber. Talia had released poison gas into the chamber while three of her father's assassins were sacrificed to prevent him from reaching his gas mask. She had left him trapped in the chamber, fighting to get out, and had waited until the gas had killed him before entering to find he had, indeed been unable to get out. Then, Batman breathed again. Talia steeled herself to shoot him, as her father came through on her radio, demanding a report. But instead, she smashed the radio, kissed Batman and left, returning to her father to tell him she had failed. She stilled dreamed of being free with Batman. But Ra's, angry with the supposed loss of his daughter, vowed never to let her be free.
