Synopsis for "Work That's Never Done"

Batman listens in to a 911 call made by a woman whose husband has been killed by an intruder. She is killed too before Batman arrives at their apartment. He finds evidence their daughter fell down the laundry chute.

He heads down to the laundry room where he finds a fingerprint from Thomas Embry, their neighbor, who has now kidnapped the girl. He picks the lock on Embry's apartment and enters.

Embry threatens to kill the girl. Batman discreetly calls Embry's number, and when it goes off, distracting Embry, he throws a Batarang at his neck. Stunned, Embry falls backwards out the window with the girl. Batman leaps after them.

Batman ties the Batrope around Embry's ankle in mid-air while catching the girl. They both go flying into an old woman's apartment. Batman sees she has mesothelioma and warns her the building's pipes have asbestos. She should get a lawyer.

Batman hands the girl off to Commissioner Gordon and follows the next 911 call.
