Synopsis for "Batman Returns: The Movie Adaptation"

It's Christmas time in Gotham City, and the Red Triangle Circus Gang comes out of hiding to abduct Max Shreck. Although Batman emerges to take down the gang, they succeed in their goal and bring him to their boss, the Penguin, who blackmails Shreck into helping him regain his proper standing in society. While Shreck arranges for the Penguin's proper homecoming, his secretary Selina Kyle discovers the secret of his proposed power plant and is pushed out of a window. Although Shreck believes that Kyle is dead, she is mysteriously resurrected by cats and develops a vengeful personality that evolves into the mysterious masked entity known as the Catwoman. Eventually, Catwoman crosses paths with the Penguin and proposes a plan to defame Batman that nearly succeeds, although she is unable to seduce Batman long enough to do anything but hurt him. Max Shreck's plan to make the Penguin the new mayor of Gotham City eventually backfires, and the Penguin starts his new plan to kidnap all the firstborn sons of Gotham City and send them along with Max Shreck into a death consisting of Shreck's industrial waste products. Batman foils this plan, which causes the Penguin to resort to destroying all of Gotham City with a rocket-armed penguin army that he sends forth. That plan is also foiled, which results in a one-on-one confrontation between Batman and the Penguin that results in the villain falling to his death. Catwoman meanwhile tangles with Max Shreck, finally exposing herself to him as Selina Kyle, and uses her electric stun gun and some power cables from a nearby generator to fatally electrocute her former boss. However, Kyle's body could not be found in the resulting wreckage. The story ends with Bruce Wayne adopting Kyle's cat as his pet and wishing his butler Alfred a merry Christmas.

Trivia

  • A sequence shift in the story has parts of the Penguin's introduction to the people of Gotham City sandwiched between Selina Kyle leaving her apartment and her being found by her boss looking at the files for his power plant. Also, Selina Kyle's visit to the Wayne Manor for a romantic get-together from the movie was left out in this adaptation.
