Synopsis for "Shadow Box, Part Two"
The dead "Robin" in the morgue convinces Batman that the looming Chinatown gang war is too dangerous to involve Robin in, regardless of whether King Snake is truly alive. As Batman suspends Tim from duty until further notice, the Ghost Dragons continue to terrorize Gotham with their newly-stolen federal weapons. Meanwhile, King Snake remains tormented by his defeat in Hong Kong, suffering nightmares that meld Robin's appearance with the voice of his true "killer", Lady Shiva.
Later, Batman attempts to intervene in a Chinatown gunfight by himself, but is shot by a gang member and barely manages to retreat to the Batcave. Upon seeing Batman's injuries, Tim challenges his suspension, theorizing that Robin's presence on the battlefield is what inspires Batman to his best efforts. Batman concedes this point, but asks that Tim stay out of action a little longer, as a strategy to draw out the Ghost Dragons' leader.
King Snake becomes annoyed by Robin's absence during Batman's latest appearances, and begins to suspect that he may have to fight Batman before taking revenge on Robin. Lynx objects, warning King Snake that it is irrational and dangerous to pursue such a narrow vendetta when the Ghost Dragons are embroiled in a gang war. After humiliating King Snake in combat to prove just how far he has fallen, Lynx offers to help him kill Robin not by pursuing him, but by setting a trap.
The following night, Commissioner Gordon receives Lynx's bait: a robin with its neck snapped.
