Quote1 I've been thinking lately. About you and me. How you may be the only one who understands what I'm doing. Bane. He has something...something I want. Something I will take from him. To do it, I'll break the laws I need to break. I'll use the people I need to use. I will do whatever needs to be done. And I will never stop. Quote2

Synopsis for "I Am Suicide, Part One"

At Santa Prisca, Bane's kingdom, Bane tells the Psycho-Pirate the story of his youth as a captive in that same place and explains that he still finds himself screaming because of that. He once turned to Venom to get comfort, but not anymore. Now he wants the Pirate to use his powers to make him feel happy and brave, and to let him know he "can always stop". The Pirate puts the Medusa Mask on and carries on Bane's will.

At Wayne Manor, Bruce sits at the side of Claire's bed, worried about her mental conditions, as she seems to be slipping into a chronic depression. Bruce makes up his mind and communicates his decision to Alfred: he'll accept Amanda Waller's proposition and heads to Arkham Asylum, promising he'll cure Gotham Girl.

At the Asylum, Batman starts gathering rogues for a sort of task force similar, under many aspects, to the Suicide Squad. The first one admitted is Arnold Wesker, a.k.a. The Ventriloquist. Batman promises him he'll be moved to a luxury facility if he helps and, as his alter-ego Scarface is currently gone, he's free to decide on "his" own. Wesker answers "Whatever you say", showing that Scarface may be gone, but he still needs a commanding personality making choices for him.

While arguing with Dr. Arkham to get three more accomplices instead of two, Batman passes on the cells of Kite-Man, Condiment King, Tweedledum and Tweedledee, Calendar Man and Jane Doe, who draws a symbol on her prison-glass.

Batman has a friendly scuffle with an old acquaintance, Bronze Tiger, who joins the team. Next up is Jewlee, whose cause for her catatonic state seems to be the disappearence of her lover, Punch. Batman calls Gordon, who's been following since the beginning of the "tour" inside the cell and proceeds to punch him in the face. He is, in fact, Punch in disguise, who escaped from Santa Prisca and infiltrated Arkham Asylum today to see his loved one. Batman is actually impressed with this show of will for love and accepts them both along.

After this, Arkham refuses to give Batman another inmate. Batman fights back with two main reasons to his favor: one, Dr. Arkham doesn't want people to know Punch managed to infiltrate the Asylum that easily; two, Batman brought in pretty much every psychopath in Arkham, so the doctor has no right to tell him what he can't do.

Batman then enters one last cell and chooses his last entry in the team: Selina Kyle, a.k.a. Catwoman, who's been charged with death by lethal injection for the murder of 237 people.
