Appearing in "Justice, No Waiting!"
- Seaside City, Maryland
Synopsis for "Justice, No Waiting!"
As the Black Hood, Wayne Sidmonson's quest for justice leads him to vice-filled Seaside City, the base of the mob. A young man (and friend of future Black Hood Nathan Cray) with a mohawk named Jeff bangs on the window of Wayne Sidmonson's car, thinking he is an easily imtidated tourist. Sidmonson is furious at this interruption of his mission, and locks the youth in a putrid bathroom stall. He then continues tracking a criminal leader, Pirate Blue, with whom he is willing to deal in order to gain the tools he needs to take down the mob. He ends up in a hand-to-hand struggle with one of Blue's underlings, Giles Coffee. Much to his regret, Giles shoots the Black Hood, killing him. Wayne's spirit finds the reality of death hard to accept, and drifts off to a sort of Limbo inhabited by the spirits of all of the past wearers of the Black Hood. Meanwhile, the creators of the "American Crusaders" comic book debate the fate of the fictional team's only female member, the Black Witch. Finally, Pirate Blue bequeaths the Black Hood's mask to Giles mockingly as a Christmas gift.
This story is narrated in the form of a letter from the Black Hood (Wayne Sidmondson) to his wife, Darcy. The letter was written two days before Christmas.
