History

In the Quality Universe, during the Cold War, the United World included, or at least defended, many mostly democratic nations, including: Badarstan, Belgium, Bolania, Borovar, Brosnia, Bulgania, Carabas, (Nationalist) China, Costa Marca, Denmark, Drozh, France, Galvia, Grelhara, Italy, Kahara, Karlovna, Kimrouk, Kondida, Lashore, Liberra, Lorphah, Luxembourg, Malkaria, Malvania, Marlanx, Monclova, Netherlands, Nurvania, Otero, Pangoy, Porvay, Ramonia, Ranagia, South Korea, South Vietnam, Tacna, Ulma, United Kingdom, United States, Valnadia, West Germany, Turkey, Yugovia and others.

In 1953, in Bolania's capital, a Red-sponsored mob besieged and stormed the presidential palace, but not before President Vurne was able to call in air support from the Blackhawk Squadron. The Squadron was only 20 minutes flying time away, at the eastern-frontier city of Bladheim, located right at the edge of the Europe-severing "Iron Curtain." The Blackhawks raked the rioters with machine-gun-fire, and soon the Bolanian security forces were able to regain control of the city. It is widely believed but has never been proven that the Blackhawk Squadron then entered the communist nation east of Bolania, and had some sort of armed conflict with the Red military there. What is known is that Commissar Drakov, the national leader, disappeared that same night.
