Synopsis for "Brass, Part 3"
Following the recruits' transformation, Hershel trains them which proves difficult by their still peaceful mindsets. In which they are even reluctant to destroy a (living) tree. After much frustration, Hershel decides to incite them he become Brass and fights his recruits. One of the recruits fires a missile at Brass, who avoid it, but heading for the nearby settlement. He quickly destroys the missile in mid-air, but garner dissatisfaction from the Tilaugians. Eventually, Brass manage to convince Eryx and the recruits in learning how to fight and able to naturally destroying objects.
That night, Hershel learns from Eryx and the volunteers that they are the only fighting force to defend their planet as infecting a large army with the Brass Virus would cause another plague. And as well for the volunteers to be quarantine from society after the war, even from their families and love ones. Especially from Asubal who reasons with Hershel that he volunteered so his newborn son would live long to grow up if the war is won.
The next morning, Brass demanded Siggah in allowing his recruits to see their families. This is allowed and the recruits are allowed a viewing through a barrier. Asubal sees her wife and child. But the sight of her husband frightens away Asubal's wife, taking her child with her.
Brass later reflects the visits as bad from the start, though was assure by the recruits including Asubal it was worth it. With war on their minds again they went to one of their enemy's camps and destroyed it. Brass and his forces enters into battle against one of the invaders' camp sites. The seven have the advantage over the invaders. Unfortunately, Brass becomes overconfident and flies into a trap.
