Synopsis for Teen Titans: "The Dimensional Caper!"
This story is reprinted from Teen Titans #16.
The Teen Titans are called into the town of Highsdale where Highsdale High student Chet Walters has asked the Titans to come help him. Landing on the school rooftop they spy into the school and see that Chet is in a meeting with his principal and father. They are disciplining him about his claims of beings from another dimension that has made him a laughing stock at school and around town. When they suggest that Chet be taken off to be examined at a professional clinic, the teen freaks out and escapes the room by smashing out a window and running away. As Chet flees he tries to get the help of his girl Sally, who shuns him just as his classmates jeer at him.
Having witnessed his escape the Titans send Wonder Girl to collect him and take him back to the rest of the Titans to find out what's going on. Chet tells them how one night he was dared to paint the class year on the town water tower and when he did so he touched one of the rivets on the tower, this caused him to be transported to another dimension that was filled with hostile creatures armed with ray guns. Fearing that the boy would warn the Earth of their impending invasion the creatures would chase Chet until he was suddenly transported back to Earth, he's been trying to warn people ever since.
Deciding to investigate the matter, the Titans have Chet take them to the water tower and when Robin touches the same rivet the Teen Titans and Chet are all transported to Dimension X where they find that Chet's claims were very true. Their fight takes them all across the replica of Chet's school that the aliens have created to train in. Fighting the creatures in the halls, the library and the boiler room. Ducking into the science wing, they learn that Chet's principal Mr. Downs is really the leader of the invasion. With the dimensional transport device nearby, Robin sends Kid Flash to manipulate it's controls at super speed, causing both dimension to slowly merge into sync.
With the student body of Highsdale and the aliens all existing in the same location, the Teen Titans fight off the invaders. During the fight, Chet gets in a struggle with Principal Downs, and during the struggle Downs' ray gun blasts the dimensional transport. This causes the aliens and Chet to be shunted back to Dimension X and the Titans back to Earth. Rushing back to the water tower to go back to Dimension X and save Chet, the Titans arrive just in time to see it detonated.
In order to save Chet, the Titans send Kid Flash to breach the dimensional barriers and save the boy from the aliens, a task which Kid Flash succeeds at. Later, the Titans explain everything to Chet's father and the people of Highsdale commend Chet and the Teen Titans as heroes.
