Synopsis for Batman and The Spectre: "The Scepter of the Dragon God!"

When an ancient relic is stolen from the Metropolitan Museum and the security guard is murdered, Batman investigates the case and learns that the stolen artifact is part of an ancient staff which belonged to a terrible wizard called Wa'arzen, but upon his death, it was separated and the pieces were scattered across the world. Until now, the threat of Wa'arzen had been forgotten, but Batman suspects that the return of evil is close.

Meanwhile, Jim Corrigan attends an exhibition of ancient Asian artifacts when the spirit of Wa'arzen materializes and steals the second part of his power staff, which he uses to return to life. Even with one piece missing, the Scepter of the Dragon God gives Wa'arzen the power to conquer the world and Spectre attempts to stop him, but Batman appears unexpectedly and is trapped by Wa'arzen's magic, forcing Spectre to help him. By the time Batman is saved, the wizard has disappeared and the heroes have to track him down.

Batman and Spectre deduce that Wa'arzen would retrieve the last piece of the Scepter in Japan and Spectre takes them there using his cosmic powers. When the heroes locate the wizard, it is already too late as Wa'arzen has already completed the Scepter of the Dragon God. Batman tries to distract the wizard in order to give Spectre the chance of performing a surprise attack, but the wizard is much too powerful for the two of them and his magic is enough to destroy them both. When the wizard focus his attention on destroying Spectre, Batman uses a Batarang to disarm Wa'arzen and without his Scepter, the wizard's body turns into ashes.

Thankful to Batman for saving his existence with his timely action, Spectre returns the vigilante to Gotham City and tells Batman that one day he will return the favor. As the sun rises, Batman returns to the shadows and the Spectre disappears.
