Synopsis for "The Man Who Murdered the Past!"

Visiting the old Wayne summer home, Batman reflects on the happy times that he spent there with his parents. Coming across his parents ashes, Batman suddenly gets possessed by the ghost of Manuel, the islands old Port-A-Gee who died 50 years ago. Each night the same incident happens, where Batman is possessed by the ghost and causes trouble on the island.

Calling the Flash for help, the two travel to the spirit world and learn that Manuel is plotting to bring all the spirits to new bodies in the realm of the living. Flash and Batman soon find the source of Manuel's possession ability: A black diamond carved into the shape of the Egyptian life goddess, which was hidden in the urn containing the Waynes' ashes. Smashing the urn open, and having the Flash throw the diamond into space, Batman thwarts Manuel's plot to possess the living with souls of the dead.

Synopsis for "The Secret of Odin's Cup!"

This story is reprinted from Brave and the Bold #20.

Jon and the mute bard take shelter in a cave during a storm. But this is no ordinary cave, as it leads to the vast lair of Wotan, underworld viking. It is also where the fabled cup of Odin, with which one drink grants invincibility against all odds, has been hidden by it's guardian, a fair princess maiden.

Notes

  • "The Man Who Murdered the Past!" is reprinted in Showcase Presents: The Brave and the Bold Batman Team-Ups Vol. 2.
  • The Crisis on Infinite Earths: The Compendium lists this issue as an appearance of Earth-Thirty-Two. That is because "The Man Who Murdered the Past!" shows Batman's parents' bodies as cremains being kept in the Wayne summer home, when every other story before and since shows their bodies as buried in a cemetery in Gotham City.
  • Because the differences between Earth-One and Earth-Thirty-Two characters is so minor the DC Comics Database has decided to use the Earth-One versions for the details that are identical.
