Synopsis for "Without Sin (Part II)"

On Oa, the Guardians of the Universe read from the Book of Oa and learn about a being known as the Purge. They believe that the Purge is responsible for what has taken place on Kahlo.

In the Kahloan city of Kymera, Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and Orlan as well as the Phantom Stranger investigate the recently devastated city. They find a Prootian survivor who tells them of the Purge, the so-called "Eater of Light". They take the survivor to the Galizia Medical Research Center and the Phantom Stranger tells the Green Lanterns that there is something definitely mystical about the recent attack.

Later that evening, Hal Jordan grows restless and decides to continue looking for answers without Orlan or the Stranger. He touches down in a field of Belamort and analyzes it with his ring. Shockingly, he discovers that Belemort is actually lethal to Kahloans.

Meanwhile, Orlan's wife Marika entertains the Phantom Stranger. She exposes to him to the Belamort and the Stranger suddenly falls over in pain.

At the Galizia hospital, the Purge makes its presence known. It locates the Prootian survivor and assimilates him. The Purge then seeks out Orlan's family. He attacks Marika and kills her. Then he assimilates Orlan into his essence. Hal Jordan returns to the house just as Orlan is completely consumed. The Purge then turns its attention on Hal and begins to assimilate him.
