The entity called the Bride was created by Dr. Victor Frankenstein to be a companion to his most famous creation, the creature known as Frankenstein. Unfortunately for Frankenstein, she rejected him, as he was not her type. That is to say, "alive." Following the Frankenstein Monster's assumed death in the Arctic, as shown in Mary Shelley's novel, the Bride wandered the Earth.
Sometime in the 20th or 21st Century, a supervillain called the Red Swami brainwashed her, grafted two extra arms onto her and tried to pass her off as the reincarnation of an assassin goddess, presumably Kali. It took seven S.H.A.D.E. agents to take her down. After that, she joined the organization.
When Frankenstein showed up in the town of Salvation Valley to combat a wetform AI based on Chemo, the Bride showed up to assist him, following him joining S.H.A.D.E. The town turned out to have been terminally infected by the wetform, in a deliberate act of sabotage by Pilot Zbigniew X, a S.H.A.D.E. agent. As they could not afford to lose $3,000,000,000 of superagent, the Bride decapitated Ziggy with a pane of glass, preserving his head.
This section of the history takes place during Flashpoint, a massive crossover event set in an alternate timeline to the mainstream DCU. History was completely changed when Professor Zoom finally found a way to erase his nemesis the Flash without harming his own legacy.
Following Eobard Thawne's manipulation of history, Bride searched for Frankenstein before being recruited by S.H.A.D.E. in the aftermath of World War II. For over sixty years, Bride soon learned of Frankenstein's and the Creature Commandos' existence in which she subsequently saved them from General Samuel Lane's assassins and captured Miranda Shrieve. Thereafter, Bride requested Frankenstein's assistance in the Atlantean/Amazon war. However, Frankenstein refused her offer until after helping the Commandos finding Professor Mazursky in Romania, in which Bride agreed to help them. Bride also revealed to Miranda Shrieve that the death of her grandfather, Matthew Shrieve, and her family by the second incarnation of the Creature Commandos were actually committed by General Lane..
Upon arriving Romania, where they found a small village populated by monsters, they were attacked by a giant G.I. Robot sent by Robert Crane. Bride and Frankenstein fought and destroyed the robot. After reuniting the Commandos with Mazursky, Bride, Frankenstein and Shrieve participated in the Atlantean/Amazon war.
