Brik was a member of the Green Lantern Corps and she was recruited by Hal Jordan.

Origin

Brik comes from the planet Dryad, a world populated by a sentient race of rock-like beings. She was one of the first new recruits selected by Hal Jordan to restore the Corps, an opportunity she accepted without hesitation. Her admiration and gratitude toward Hal soon turned into affection, but there was no mutual attraction.[1] Not wanting to hurt her, Hal tactfully told Brik that there's no place for relationships between Green Lanterns in the Corps.[2]

Green Lantern Corps

One of her first tasks was to find suitable candidates for new members. She found two worthy stone-based beings: Kworri and Aa, and the latter was the one Hal selected.[1] Shortly after, Kilowog was appointed as instructor of the new recruits, and he taught them well. Although Kilowog had his doubts about why Hal recruited Brik, he then realized that that she had heart, and that she knew how to sacrifice, when to give, and when to fight.[3]

Brik, along with her fellow recruits, finished their training following the battle against Entropy. The Guardians of the Universe deemed they were ready to assume official tasks to expand the Green Lantern Corps and recruit twelve new members each.[4] Brik and Percival discovered and recruited a good number of candidates for the Corps, and, curiously, some of those Green Lanterns were included in the Book of Oa before they were officially instated into the Corps.[5]

During the "Triarch" affair on Maltus, beside working alongside the Darkstars, Brik quickly formed a close relationship with Strata, from the L.E.G.I.O.N. after they realized they both came from the same planet — particularly because they each thought they were the last of their race. Living in the caverns, her people always believed the surface was dead, while Strata's group thought the cave people to be a legend.[6]

Emerald Twilight

After Hal Jordan, as Parallax, annihilated the Green Lantern Corps, Brik lost her ring and ended up stranded in space. She was captured along with many other Green Lanterns by a slave-trading ring until Guy Gardner found and freed them.[7]

"In brightest day, in blackest night,
No evil shall escape my sight.
Let those who worship evil's might,
Beware my power...Green Lantern's light!"

  • When Kilowog told stories of the Book of Oa to his recruits, Brik enjoyed the tales of G'nort, saying "I wish I could protect him."[3]
