History
The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a civilian intelligence agency of the United States government. Its primary function is collecting and analyzing information about foreign governments, corporations, and persons in order to advise public policymakers. The Central Intelligence Agency was created by Congress with the National Security Act of 1947, signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. It is the descendant of the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) of World War II, which was dissolved in October 1945 and its functions transferred to the State and War Departments.
During the 1980s, the CIA was heavily involved in a series of controversial operations which involved trading weapons for money laundered by Central American cartels through their various narcotics operations. One such operation took place in Belize, where a section chief named Grace Kasaba ran a guns-for-drugs op from the base of an ancient Mayan pyramid. Her actions here awakened the spirit of the Mayan God of War, Talaoc, who took possession of her body. Deadman became involved in this affair and destabilized the CIA's influence in this region. [1]

- The Central Intelligence Agency is an actual government sponsored organization active in the United States.
- The CIA is not to be confused with the Central Bureau of Investigation, another civilian organization that frequently employed costumed heroes such as Speedy. Although the two agencies are analogous to one another, they both seem to exist independently of the other.
