CMX launched with the goal of providing a diverse selection of manga, and, potentially, manhwa to the U.S. market. Wildstorm, along with its parent company, DC Comics, enthusiastically supported the line. Unlike many other imprints, CMX pursued older manga along with popular new works, feeling that these stories deserved widespread distribution and a chance at an American readership. Their initial lineup included classics of the shoujo genre.
Although at one point it may have been an independent publisher, this company is or was owned by WildStorm Productions, and used as a Wildstorm Imprint. As Wildstorm is currently an imprint of DC Comics, the continuity of this imprint or publisher falls in with DC Continuity; although it's separate from the mainstream DC Universe. This template will categorize articles that include it into the Wildstorm Imprints category.
