Cabala was descended from an immensely unfortunate family, which went bankrupt during the height the 1920s economic boom. As an adult, he would marry Cassandra Spellcraft, an alchemist from a similarly infamous family.
History
Though much more laid-back than his ambitious, aggressive wife, Cabala was nevertheless an eager participant in all of her criminal schemes, including her successful breakout attempt on Gotham State Penitentiary. When Cassandra was ultimately foiled by Batman, Robin, and Batgirl, Cabala was apprehended right alongside his "Doc-y baby".[1]

Notes
- Cabala was portrayed by American actor Howard Duff. His wife Cassandra was played by Duff's real-life (albeit estranged) wife Ida Lupino.

- Like his wife, Cabala never officially appeared in the * Cabala's name is possibly derived from the concept of Cabala (sometimes spelled Kabbala(h)), a strain of mysticism originally derived from certain readings of Judaism. Cabala appeared in the writings of many real-life alchemists, most prominent among them John Dee.
