Cain is a biblical figure known for committing the first murder in history against his brother Abel. There have been several different interpretations of Cain as a figure in the DC Universe. In early publications the character hosted House of Mystery while his brother hosted House of Secrets, both were used by Vertigo Comics. During Final Crisis the Religion of Crime worships Vandal Savage as the historical inspiration for Cain. Rise of the Vampires introduces a primordial evil named Cain as the sire of all vampires. Cain was created by Bob Haney, Jack Sparling and Joe Orlando, first appearing in House of Mystery #175. (1968)
