Calvin City is the home of Calvin College where Atom (Al Pratt) was first a student, then later a professor.
History
Calvin City, Connecticut, was founded in 1678 on the eastern bank of the Housatonic River. It was settled by Calvinists escaping persecution in England and named after the theologian John Calvin. A disagreement over the religious course led to the foundation of Ivy Town on the other bank some thirty years later.
Like Ivy Town, Calvin City is a college town, though of a particularly less high profile. Calvin College was founded in 1817, seventy years before the more famous Ivy University, but constantly lived in its shadow. The city has some industry, but mainly provides services and business to the roughly 20,000 students, which is a little under half the city's population.[1]
