The Candle was an enemy of the Tarantula.
History
The Candle was a villain who used the burning of a candle to commit his crimes. He'd sprinkle a powder on the candle, then light the wick, and it produced a toxic gas, which killed anyone in the room except him, because he wore a neutralizer in his nose.
He faced off against The Tarantula early in that costumed crime fighter's career. After a battle in a burning jewelry store, and another in his own secret hideout, the Candle was captured and trussed up in the Tarantula's webs.
They met again after he was broken out of jail to join a team-up with Sting and ”Bandana” Bardon. Once again, the Tarantula prevailed and he was sent back to prison.

- This version of Candle, including all history and corresponding appearances, was erased from existence following the collapse of the original Multiverse in the 1985–86 Crisis on Infinite Earths event and later restored following the rebirth of the infinite Multiverse during the Dark Crisis of 2022-2023. Even though other versions of the character may have appeared, this information does not apply to those versions.
