However, Hawksmoor have another idea and have the group to travel to a world where Nazi Germany won World War Two. The group found themselves in the presence of Nazi soldiers in which The Engineer and Hawksmoor brutally attack them, as Captain Atom watches in shock. Atom is then attacked by a electrical powered Nazi villain, and is saved by Hawksmoor who commands a large statue to fall on the villain. After the Engineer kill many of the Nazi soldiers, Jack Hawksmoor have teleported somewhere as the Engineer and Captain Atom waits. After traveling through many realities, many of which are "dark" and "disturbing", they couldn't find Atom's universe and decide to head back to the Wildstorm Universe.

Back in the home reality of the Wildstorm Universe, Grifter and the WildC.A.T.s have examined Nikola Hanssen and gravelly learned that the presence of the Void is much graver than they had thought. They are then discovered by Mister Majestic, who demands of what they had done with Captain Atom. The WildC.A.T.s admitted that they had fought and tried to kill Atom, and Majestic is relieved in hearing this and informs them that killing him would still destroy their universe. Grifter is bewildered with Majestic discovery, but the later informs him that he correctly ran the figures a thousand times before. However, Majestic believes that Nikola Hanssen herself may prevent the upcoming cataclysm.

Back on the Carrier, Captain Atom appreciate the Authority for helping him and decides to find a place on Earth to clear his mind. Hawksmoor knows a place where Atom can think by himself and Atom bids goodbye to the Authority as he walk through a door. After he left, the Authority decides that they must keep an eye on him and find ways in preventing the destruction of their universe either curing him or killing him.

On Earth, Atom thinks on a secluded mountaintop. Despite his isolation, Atom is again approached by the Engineer who insists that he needs "a friend".
